Qatar Energy LNG Transportation Project Vessels "SHARQ" and "SHRA‘OUH" Grandly Christened in South Korea

On December 3, 2025, the naming ceremony for the vessels "SHARQ" and "SHRA‘OUH" under the Qatar Energy LNG transportation project, in which CLNG holds equity investment, was held at the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea. Mrs. Yasuko Myochin, wife of Kline's Chairman, and Mrs. Tamiko Soga, wife of NYK's President, served as the naming sponsors for the two vessels, respectively.

The two vessels christened this time are the 7th and 8th ships among the 12 LNG vessels built by CLNG for Qatar Energy. The "SHARQ" will be managed by Kline and is scheduled to commence global LNG transportation services from December 2025. The "SHRA’OUH" will be managed by NYK and is expected to officially set sail in January 2026. Currently, the 5 LNG vessels already in operation under the Qatar Energy project are running smoothly.

Representatives from the Company's shareholders attending the ceremony included Mr. Ren Yongqiang, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation Co., Ltd; Mr. Wang Yongxin, General Manager of China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd; Mr. Zhang Yong, Deputy General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation Co., Ltd; and Mr. Xu Hui, Deputy General Manager of China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. From the Company side, attendees included Mr. Sheng Shanxing, General Manager, and Mr. Shu Binglin, Deputy General Manager. Joint venture partners present were Mr. Takaya Soga, President of NYK; Mr. Yukikazu Myochin, Chairman of Kline; and Mr. Zahid Osman, President of MISC. Additionally, over a hundred guests participated in the event, including representatives from Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), financial institutions, and the Qatar Energy on-site construction supervision team.


Vessel Technical Features
Both vessels are equipped with X DF 2.1 iCER dual-fuel engines, capable of using fuel oil and boil-off gas (BOG) as fuel, offering high fuel efficiency and low emissions. The ships are also fitted with reliquefaction devices, which efficiently utilize surplus boil-off gas, further enhancing energy efficiency and significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This embodies the advanced concept of green shipping.
