The Naming and Delivery Ceremony of LNG Carrier Dapeng Princess was Held in Shanghai

On February 18, 2023, the naming and delivery ceremony of the LNG
carrier jointly invested by CLNG and Shenzhen Gas was held in Shanghai. Chen
Qianwen, a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's
Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Vice Chairman of Shenzhen CPPCC,
named the LNG carrier Dapeng Princess, with all genuine expectations and hopes,
wishing it making new contributions to the lucid waters and lush mountains in Shenzhen
and smooth sailing from here on.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from Shenzhen Gas, COSCO
Shipping Energy, China Merchants Energy Shipping, CLNG, China Shipbuilding
Trading, Hudong-Zhonghua, K-Line, ABS, CCS, GTT, Bank of China, Sinosure, as well as relevant authorities in Shenzhen
and business partners, etc.
Dapeng Princess is built by Hudong-Zhonghua, supervised by K-Line and
financed by Bank of China Shenzhen Branch. After delivery, it will be chartered
to Hua'an on a fixed charter-period and managed by CLSICO, a specialized LNG ship
management company under CLNG. The Shenzhen Gas LNG Transportation project was
initiated at the end of 2020, with SBC signing with China Shipbuilding Trading
and Hudong-Zhonghua in March 2021, construction starting in April 2021, docking
in November 2021, undocking in June 2022, sea trials and gas trials completed in
December 2022. This project marks the first successful cooperation between
Shenzhen Gas and China Shipbuilding Group and the first time that a Greater Bay
Area based city gas enterprise placing LNGC order on its own. A win-win
partnership between CLNG and Shenzhen Gas on this project has also become a
successful case of deepening cooperation between a state-owned and locally
state-owned enterprise.
The delivery of Dapeng Princess will substantially alleviate the
problem of natural gas reserve and shortage of shipping capacity in Shenzhen,
further improve the capacity utilization rate of the gas reserve, safeguard the
stable supply of natural gas in Shenzhen and ultimately better serve the
low-carbon and high-quality development of Shenzhen and even Greater Bay Area.
